About Me

Alexander Chalovsky, a artist who successfully implements himself in modern painting, as well as in graphics, collage, lectures and teaching. He first announced himself by participating in the 1992 exhibition in memory of the Closing of the Tishinsky market. After that, in 1993-94, at the scandalous exhibition in the Central House of Artists, “New Year’s lawlessness.” This period of creativity was marked by work with the famous curator and artist Sergey Kuskov. Further creativity was individual. The most significant project of the artist at the moment is the “Nuriev Method” dedicated to the work of Rudolf Nuriev. Artist Alexander Chalovsky is an experimenter looking for new opportunities at the intersection of art and science. He studies new philosophical concepts of the works of philosophers and culturologists, poets and writers. This gives results: a very wide range of searches led the artist’s research from the field of abstraction of the nineties to figurative painting and the fusion of linear and oil painting based on Chinese graphics. He also technically worked out the concept of apropriation based on graphic means and on the basis of the works of the Austrian artist Lembroke, moved from expressionism to a calm study of Egyptian art, from deep ancient ancient myths to an actual vision of the world in the science fiction of the Strugatsky Brothers. As a result, a large and diverse collection of works was created.

The results of this practice and experiments developed their own style and a deep understanding of the history of art and new directions in painting, this gives the artist the opportunity to lecture and give interesting lessons on the basics of academic and modern painting. Also, some works from the main cycle were exhibited in Paris (Russian Cultural Center) and in the USA (Kirov Ballet Academy in Washington), participated in 5 Moscow Biennale of Modern Art, in a large solo project exhibition in a branch of the Museum of Fine Arts named after Pushkin in the Kazan Kremlin. Also, one painting was accepted as a gift by the Kazan Art Museum.
